  I was house-sitting in Park City when my dog needed emergency treatment for a broken-and-infected dew claw, so I gave White Pine a shot. Dr. Burchett was so good that I am considering making them my regular vet despite the 45 minute drive that would entail!! 1. This required removal of his dew claw down to the bone. Rather than putting him under general anesthesia, she sedated him and gave him a nerve block so she could work on it. This is far safer for any animal, and far easier to recover from. 2. I have never seen such a clean wound. I have no idea how she sealed it; there do not appear to be stitches, but it has not bled at all, despite my failed efforts to keep my dog from running around like crazy. Hyper is kind of his default state. 3. She, and her staff, were so sweet that my buddy went with them willingly - I wasn't at all worried that he would be scared. 4. She provided adequate pain control. My dog is a pit bull. Thanks to the breed reputation, he is often under-medicated for pain. She provided plenty of Rimadyl to get him through the week. 5. They followed up the next day with me to make sure he was doing well. 6. Thanks to the above-mentioned avoidance of general anesthesia - and a complete lack of surprise add-on charges - this cost me a third of what a similar injury added up to at my old vet.
